Jawun Indigenous Community Secondment Program

Jawun Logo

Jawun is a not-for-profit organisation managing secondments from public sectors and corporate Australia to a range of Indigenous partner organisations in communities across Australia. Through these secondments Jawun supports Indigenous leadership to deliver their own strategies and vision and to contribute to the capability development of Indigenous people and organisations.

Jawun Indigenous organisations identify the secondees they need, based on their priorities. Jawun then works with their partners to identify suitable secondees, manages the local induction and provides ongoing support to participants during their secondment.

Since 2001 Jawun has facilitated over 150 public sector and over 1000 corporate secondees to work with Indigenous communities. The public sector partners are the Australian Public Service (APS) and the Western Australian Government; and the corporate partners include Westpac, Boston Consulting Group, KPMG, Wesfamers, Freehills, IBM Australia, National Australia Bank and Qantas.

Further information on Jawun and their Indigenous partners can be found at www.jawun.org.au.

On Tuesday 16 June 2015, Jawun celebrated its 15th anniversary at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. You can view the event feature videos ’15 Years of Jawun’ and ‘The Jawun Story’ via the Jawun website link above.

The role of DPC and Treasury
