He refers to the remarkable statistic of US$40 billion wasted on electricity in the United States that does not contribute to well-being (e.g. lights on in empty rooms, leaving air-conditioning on when leaving the house).

OPower is making it easier for consumers to be aware how much electricity they are wasting (and converting it to actual dollar amounts!), and working with them to understand how to change their behaviour. Game changing stuff!
