Why work at DPC?

The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is the lead agency in the NSW Government.

Our purpose is to drive big ideas at the heart of government.

We are responsible for driving an ambitious roadmap and reform agenda, and we work every day to serve the community and build a better state for generations to come.

Join our team and help us shape the future of New South Wales.

Our work

Our people undertake challenging and rewarding work across metropolitan and regional NSW.

We support the Premier, Cabinet, Ministers, and other government agencies by coordinating policies and services across the public sector.

We lead policy development and act as a centre of innovation and support for overarching Government plans and projects.

We also organise various state events including Australia Day, Anzac Day, Remembrance Day, state funerals, Mardi Gras and more. DPC will also be involved in World Pride 2023.

As you can see, our work is vast and varied, and our staff thrive off a fast pace and dynamic work environment. Some of our current key areas of work include:

WestInvest

The new $5 billion program that will fund transformational infrastructure projects across Western Sydney.

Women NSW

Improving the lives of all women in NSW by achieving justice and equality through policy, innovation and collaboration.

Aboriginal Affairs

Working with community to promote social, economic and cultural wellbeing through opportunity, choice, healing, responsibility and empowerment.

Our culture

The organisation is built on our ‘DPC Culture Framework’ and the five core behaviours that we expect and celebrate: respect, innovation, empowerment, agility and inclusion.

As our department continues to evolve and develop, these five pillars remain constant.

We are an ambitious bunch who believe that we can accomplish great things when people bring their whole selves to work.

Hear our Secretary, Michael Coutts-Trotter talk about our purpose and what it means to work at DPC:

Flexible Working – if not, why not?

We are committed to fostering a flexible work environment.

Everyone has different needs, and our flexible work culture allows you to adapt your work routine to suit you.

We’re all about flexibility, productivity and driving good outcomes for the communities we serve.

Flexible working is our bread and butter. In 2019 we were finalists in the Global Public Service team of the year for new ways of working and recognised in the top Innovative HR teams in 2020 and 2021 for our approach to flexible working.
