FOI Reform - Open Government Information

The Government has released for public comment the following exposure draft Bills:

• Open Government Information Bill 2009
• Information Commissioner Bill 2009
• Open Government Information (Consequential Amendments and Repeals) Bill 2009

This package of legislation is intended to replace the current Freedom of Information Act 1989, and implements reforms recommended by the Ombudsman earlier this year.

Submissions close on Wednesday 3 June 2009.
