The template does not work when I open it from the website?
- Identify the version of the template that matches the Excel version on your PC.
- Right click on the link, and on the context menu select Save Target As…
- In the Save As dialogue, browse to the save location on your PC or network.
- For the Excel.2007 template rename the file extension from .zip to .xlsm
- Complete any other file name changes then click the Save button.
- When the download is complete click the Run button or open the template from the save location on your PC or network.
I am having problems uploading my template through SWIMS – what can I do?

What criteria is used to determine frontline positions?
The definition of frontline positions can be found in the Data Specifications Manual (P2011_001).
What do the colours indicate on the template?
The template shows severity of an error or warning by colouring the cell.
Red - fatal error in a single cellmust be corrected to submit the return.
Amber - warning in a single cellmust be addressed by correction or explanation at time of submission.
Tan - warning involving multiple cells on a rowthis indicates there is an inconsistency between two or more fields (this is a cross check).
There is a Warnings sheet which has a table of all errors/warnings discovered. The details are listed;
- Row number - indicates the row with the warning.
- Severity - indicates whether it is a fatal error or a warning.
- Warning number - indicates the number of the warning (either a cross check, range check or validation check warning) and a distinct number.
- Item Name - the item/s referred to in the cross/range/validation check.
Cell Reference shows:
- range and validation warnings are hyperlinked to the cell containing the warning.
- cross check warnings are hyperlinked to the row as two or more cells are inconsistent for this warning type.

I have some awards highlighted as warnings in my return. Where will I find the most recent award list?
The current Award lists can be found on the SWIMS page under the heading Look up Tables.
Agency codes and Legislation codes are also available.
Where will I find the ANZSCO codes and occupation descriptions?
Position coding including the ANZSCO code can be determined by using the Position Coding Automated Tool, or PCAT on the DPC website. The tool will guide the user through a series of multiple choice questions and determine a code for the position.
For occupation descriptions, when in the PCAT Occupation Details screen click the commentary button to show links to related information. A PDF document can be downloaded from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
