Position Coding Automated Tool (PCAT)
Position Code is a new item on the annual NSW Public Sector Workforce Profile Data Collection from 2002.
ALL new and amended positions must be coded using PCAT.
PCAT will ask you a series of questions about each position. The questions you are asked will be different for each position depending on its nature. You must answer all questions.
At the end of the inquiry, an output report is generated which provides the code for that position. The printed output report is your coding record.
Remember
- Code all positions using PCAT. Do not attempt to code positions manually
- Treat each position separately and determine its code individually
- Ensure task information is available for coding – do not refer to job titles alone
