Workforce Planning
NSW Public Sector Workforce Strategy 2008-2012
The NSW Public Sector Workforce Strategy 2008-2012 (G2008_004) sets the agenda to improve how the sector recruits, develops, manages and retains staff and how it plans for its future workforce needs.
It commits to a range of projects and initiatives which respond to emerging workforce issues such as skills shortages and the demographic deficit caused by ageing.
It describes three broad strategies underpinned by the principle that the sector needs the right people, with the right capabilities, skills and attitudes, in the right jobs:
- create a workforce that attracts and retains talented employees and draws on the diversity of the people of NSW
- build a supported, motivated and high performing workforce
- improve workforce planning and management across the sector.
The NSW Public Sector Workforce Strategy - Summary and 08/09 priorities (G2008_003) detail the focus on implementation during 2008/2009.
