Executive Development Program
The Executive Development Program (EDP) aims to build the skills of future leaders in the NSW public sector. The course is structured around the NSW Executive Capabilities:
- Communication and interpersonal effectiveness
- Facilitating workforce effectiveness
- Achieving results
- Organisational context and environment astuteness
- Managing customer and stakeholder relationships
- Leadership
- Strategic thinking and planning
- Change management.
The modules focus on three inter-linked themes: Intelligent Leadership, Challenges for the Public Sector, Strategy and Management.
The EDP offers a balance between academic input, actual experience of key concepts and themes and application in the workplace. It is a short course delivered over 10 months and involves three 3-day workshops, 360 degree feedback, personal development plans, mentoring and a work based project. Participants
The EDP is for officers from Grade 11/12 to SES 3 (or equivalent) from all NSW public sector agencies. Participants must have the endorsement of their CEO to participate.
Enrolment
Courses commence in March each year. The application process is co-ordinated by the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Detailed information about places for the EDP are sent to agencies in mid July yearly for circulation to all employees and managers. Employees can seek information from the HR section in their agency.
