Superannuation
Public Servants, including casuals and temporaries, are entitled to compulsory employer superannuation contributions. They are also eligible to join the First State Superannuation Scheme or to arrange private superannuation or both.
Public Servantsare likely to be members of:
- First State Superannuation Scheme (FSS) - open to new members from 1 July 1992
- State Superannuation Scheme (SSS) - closed to new members on 1 July 1985
- Police Superannuation Scheme (PSS) - closed on 1 April 1988
- State Authorities Superannuation Scheme (SASS) - closed 19 December 1992
- State Authorities Non-contributory Superannuation Scheme (SANCS) (otherwise known as the 3% or Basic Benefit Scheme) - closed 19 December 1992.
Public Servants may also be members of the Local Government Superannuation Scheme (LGSS), Energy Industry Superannuation Scheme (EISS) or a private superannuation scheme.
Information on which scheme you belong to may be on your payslip or you can ask your Human Resources or Payroll area.
