2006 Premier's Public Sector Awards
Showcasing Excellence in NSW
The Premier's Public Sector Awards formally recognise and reward the achievement of excellence by the New South Wales public sector. They acknowledge projects and initiatives which have produced measurable outcomes, with proven results and benefits to the people of New South Wales. Sustainability, adaptability and a team approach are integral to these projects.
The Awards were open to all public sector agencies including departments, authorities, boards, commissions, government trading enterprises and state owned corporations.
The Awards recognised achievements in the following categories:
- Community Building
- Information and Communications Technology
- Service Delivery
- Services to Rural/Regional NSW
- Social Justice
- The Environment and Natural Resources
- Workforce Development
- Business, Management and Financial Performance (including the Annual Reports Award)
The tenth annual Premier's Public Sector Awards were presented on 10 November 2006 by the Honourable Morris Iemma MP, Premier of New South Wales, at the Conservatorium of Music, Verbruggen Hall.
One hundred and fifty-two nominations were received in 2006 from over 50 agencies across New South Wales.
Thirty-five Awards covering four levels of achievement - gold, silver, bronze and commendation - were presented to projects of excellence.
The winning projects reflected the importance of innovation, strategic thinking, teamwork and effective inter-agency collaboration and partnerships.
The broad range of project areas included healthcare, education and training, resource management and conservation, online technology reform, community development, social justice, regional development and workforce development.
