2004 Premier's Public Sector Awards

The eighth annual Premier's Public Sector Awards were presented on 5 November 2004 by the Honourable Michael Egan MLC, Treasurer of New South Wales, at the Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre, Darling Harbour.

The Awards formally recognise and reward achievements of excellence within the New South Wales Public Sector. They showcase the vast range of services delivered by the sector and showcase innovations and good practice that occur across the State.

169 nominations were received this year - the highest number in the Awards' history. 34% were submitted by services based in regional areas - from cities to small towns - across New South Wales.

Forty three Awards covering four levels of achievement - gold, silver, bronze and commendation - were presented to projects of excellence in eight categories:

  • Business, Management and Financial Performance
  • Community Development
  • e-Government
  • Service Delivery
  • Services to Rural NSW
  • Social Justice
  • The Environment
  • Workforce Diversity

The winning projects reflected the importance of innovation, strategic thinking, teamwork and effective inter-agency and inter-sector collaboration and partnerships. The broad range of project areas included healthcare, education and training, resource management and conservation, online technology reform, community development, social justice, regional development and workforce diversity.
