WorkCover NSW is responsible for maintaining public sector OH&S policy in partnership with the Department of Premier and Cabinet and NSW Treasury on design, co-ordination and implementation aspects.

Psychological Injury
Leading Well: The role of leadership in improving the prevention and management of psychological injury (G2007_002) provides guidance to public sector agencies to:
- make improvements in leadership performance
- promote proactive management of the organisational factors that can give rise to psychological injuries
- promote appropriate post-incident counselling
- improve claims management and return to work.
Healthy Workforce
- A Healthy Workforce: Policy on improving the health and well being of public sector employees (G2007_001) aims to assist agencies develop comprehensive healthy workforce programs and details seven steps to implement an effective program.
- Managing Sick Leave Policy (D2009_008) aims to assist agencies better manage absenteeism and is part of the Government’s commitment to achieving and sustaining productive, healthy, efficient and high performing workplaces.
- Procedures for Managing Non-Work Related Injuries or Health Conditions (D2010_019) provide guidance to agencies for managing situations when the health of an employee prevents them from undertaking the inherent requirements and job demands of their position or to ensure the health and safety of the employee and others affected by an employee's health and fitness.
- Dealing with Employee Work-related Concerns and Grievances (D1996_005) provides guidance to agencies for managing work related concerns or grievances to achieve and maintain workplaces which foster productive and harmonious working environments.
- Harassment Free Workplace (D1996_004) aims to assist agencies to achieve and maintain workplaces which are free from all forms of harassment and to implement strategies for preventing and dealing with harassment.
- Alcohol and other Drugs - Policies and Guidelines (G1998_005) aims to encourage agencies to develop programs aimed at the prevention, reduction and/or elimination of problems associated with the misuse or abuse of alcohol and other drugs which affect employees’ work performance, conduct or safety.
