Government apprenticeship requirements
The NSW Government announced in February 2009 that 4000 new apprenticeships would be supported through government funded initiatives by 2013.
The Government’s Training Management Guidelines have been updated to strengthen apprentice employment and training requirements for contractors. Contractors are required to employ an apprentice for every four tradespeople employed on government construction projects and activities.
Public sector agencies will ensure that these requirements are met by contractors on all government funded projects.
