About e-Recruitment
e-Recruitment is a centrepiece of ongoing government reform.
It will
- streamline all aspects of recruitment
- save time and money
- find the best people for the job in the shortest time
- collect data vital to meeting changing workplace needs
- be used by all NSW public sector agencies
- offer user-friendly tools to managers and job applicants, and
- continue to promote merit-based selection
For job seekers e-Recruitment will offer an easier and faster way to apply for opportunities to work in the public sector, tracking of applications, and offers the choice of making resumes available to all government employers.
For people now employed in the NSW public service the advantages of e-Recruitment will include better use of eligibility lists and more rapid matching of excess staff to suitable opportunities. Some manual tasks will be automated, some position descriptions standardised. Selection panel members will be able to readily access applications online. The Department of Premier and Cabinet currently manages the e-Recruitment project.
Its implementation was recommended in Council on the Cost and Quality of Government's special review into recruitment practices in the NSW public sector.
