Regional and Rural Communities

The NSW Government is committed to the wellbeing of the people and communities of country NSW. One of the goals of the State Plan is to have stronger rural and regional economies. The Plan commits Government agencies to meet specific targets to achieve this goal.

Throughout rural and regional NSW the Government has a network of offices that work with the local community, industry, business and other levels of government to improve the management of rural and regional issues. Working in partnership the Government and the community strive to improve service delivery and respond to specific social, economic and environmental issues faced by rural communities. Information about services available to rural and regional communities is available on the NSW Government website at www.nsw.gov.au/countrynsw.asp.

The Department of Premier and Cabinet gets involved when the issue needs to be addressed or managed by a number of other departments. We have a strategic role in linking up the regional managers of government agencies, councils, business and community groups to work on projects for that region.
